# How do you change -3x+12y=24 into slope intercept form?

Apr 4, 2015

The Answer is : $\implies y = \frac{1}{4} x + 2$

You simply have to rearrange the given equation $- 3 x + 12 y = 24$ in the form:

$y = m x + c$

where $m$ is the gradient and $c$ the y coordinate of the y-intercept

Doing that you have,

$- x + 4 y = 8$ Dividing both side by $3$

$\implies 4 y = x + 8$

$\implies y = \frac{1}{4} x + 2$
