# How do you factor 2x^2 − 6x − 36?

May 12, 2015

$f \left(x\right) = 2 \left({x}^{2} - 3 x - 18\right)$= 2(x - p)(x - q)

Use the new AC Method to factor the trinomial.

Compose factor pairs of c = -18. Proceed: (-1, 18)(-2, 9)(-3, 6). This last sum is (6 - 3 = 3 = -b). Then p = 3 and q = -6.

Answer: f(x) = 2(x + 3)(x - 6)
