# How do you factor 2x²-7x+5?

Dec 4, 2015

Factor $y = 2 {x}^{2} - 7 x + 5$
$y = 2 {x}^{2} - 7 x + 5$
Since (a + b + c = 0), use the shortcut. One factor is (x - 1) and the other is $\left(x - \frac{c}{a}\right) = \left(x - \frac{5}{2}\right) .$
$y = 2 \left(x - 1\right) \left(x - \frac{5}{2}\right) = \left(x - 1\right) \left(2 x - 5\right) .$
