# How do you factor completely ax-2x+ay-2y?

Feb 8, 2017

I got: $\left(x + y\right) \left(a - 2\right)$
Collect $a$ from the first and third and $- 2$ from the second and fourth:
$a \left(x + y\right) - 2 \left(x + y\right) =$
now collect $\left(x + y\right)$:
$= \left(x + y\right) \left(a - 2\right)$
