How do you find the inverse of `ln(x^2)` and is it a function?

If `y = ln(x^2)`, then

`e^y = x^2`

`x = +- sqrt{e^y}`

It is not a function, as given a value for `y`, there can be sometimes 2 values of `x` (due to the plus-minus sign).
