# How do you find the mean, median, mode and range for 53, 32, 49, 24, 62?

Nov 4, 2014

median is the central value so we must first put the numbers in order from smallest to largest
$24 , 32 , 49 , 53 , 62$
The central number (number in the middle) is 49 therefore the mean is 49

We find the mean by adding all the numbers together then dividing that sum by the amount of numbers that were added
(53+32+49+24+62)/5=?
$\frac{220}{5} = 44$

mode is the number that occurs the most in the string of values
in this case you can say all the numbers are the mode or that there is no mode, because no numbers are repeating.

range is simply subtracting the smallest value from the biggest value
$62 - 24 = 38$
