# How do you find the slope & y-intercept of the equation x – y = 4?

Mar 12, 2018

$y = m x + c$

c= y intercept

x - y = 4
Step 1. Rearrange this equation to y = mx +c (isolate y, to make it by itself)

-y = 4 - x
remove the minus on the y, by multiplying both sides by -1
y= -4 + x
y= x -4

Thus, m = 1 (slope)
c= -4 (y - intercept)
