# How do you graph f(x) = |x| + 4?

Mar 25, 2016

You will have to make two graphs, depending on wheter $x$ is negative or not:

#### Explanation:

$x < 0$
The absolute bars will make it positive, so in fact we are now looking at $f \left(x\right) = - x + 4$

$x \ge 0$
Nothing needs to be do, so it's $f \left(x\right) = x + 4$
graph{|x|+4 [-13.86, 14.62, -3.23, 11.01]}
