# How do you graph y=log_7x?

Jan 30, 2017

You may convert to base 10 or base e as follows:
$y = \left(\frac{1}{\log} _ 10 \left(7\right)\right) {\log}_{10} \left(x\right)$
$y = \left(\frac{1}{\ln} \left(7\right)\right) \ln \left(x\right)$
Then it is a matter of plotting points.

#### Explanation:

Here is a graph

The red line is the logarithm base 7
The blue line is the logarithm base e.
I was going to show base 10 but is was so close to the base 7 curve that it made the graph confusing.
