it can be written as ;

$- 1 \left(1 + 7 x\right) - 6 \left(7 - x\right) = 36$

$- 1 \cdot 1 + \left(- 1\right) 7 x - 6 \cdot 7 - 6 \cdot \left(- x\right) = 36$

$- 1 + - 7 x - 42 + 6 x = 36$

$- 1 - 42 - 7 x + 6 x = 36$

$- 43 - x = 36$

adding $43$ to both sides

$- 43 + 43 - x = 36 + 43$

$- x = 79$

dividing both sides by -1 to get the value of $x$ ;

$\frac{- x}{-} 1 = \frac{79}{-} 1$

x = -79
