How do you simplify first and then solve −(1 + 7x) − 6(−7 − x) = 36?

1 Answer

-( 1 + 7x) -6 (-7-x) = 36

it can be written as ;

-1 ( 1 + 7x) -6 ( 7-x) =36

-1*1 + (-1) 7x -6*7 -6*(-x)= 36

-1 + -7x -42 + 6x =36

-1 -42 -7x +6x = 36

-43-x = 36

adding 43 to both sides

-43 + 43 -x = 36 +43

-x = 79

dividing both sides by -1 to get the value of x ;

(-x) /-1 = 79 /-1

x = -79
