2$\sqrt{x + 4}$= x+1, Square both sides,

4(x+4)= x^2 +2x+1. Simplify this to get,
${x}^{2}$ -2x- 15=0. Now factorise this,
(x-5)(x+3)=0
That gives x= 5 as the required solution. x=-3 does not satisfy the given equation, hence that has to be rejected.
