# How do you solve the equation 2x + y = 1?

In general, it is not meaningful to ask to "solve" a single equation like this. You could ask to solve this equation for the value of $y$ given some specified value of $x$; or you could ask to re-express it in the form y= ...." or x=...#

You could write the "solution" as an infinite set:
$\left\{\left(x , 1 - 2 x\right) \forall x \epsilon \mathbb{R}\right\}$
but I doubt that's what you were hoping for.
