# How do you solve the rational equation (x-3)/(x+1)=(x-6)/(x+5)?

Jan 3, 2016

I found: $x = \frac{9}{7}$
$\left(x - 3\right) \left(x + 5\right) = \left(x - 6\right) \left(x + 1\right)$
$\cancel{{x}^{2}} + 5 x - 3 x - 15 = \cancel{{x}^{2}} + x - 6 x - 6$
$2 x - 15 = - 5 x - 6$
$7 x = 9$
$x = \frac{9}{7}$
