#6x + 8y = 4, Eqn (1) * 2#

#6x + 9y = 3, Eqn (2) * 3#

Subtracting one from the other,

#6x + 8y - 6x - 9y = 4 - 3#

#-y = 1# or #y = -1#

Substituting value of y in Eqn (1),

#3x + 4*-1 = 2#

#3x - 4 = 2#
