# How do you solve the system 6x-2y=0 and x-y=12 by substitution?

$6 x - 2 y = 0$ .......equation $\left(1\right)$

$x - y = 12$
$x = 12 + y$ ..........equation $\left(2\right)$

substituting equation $\left(2\right)$ in equation $\left(1\right)$
$6 \left(12 + y\right) - 2 y = 0$
$72 + 6 y - 2 y = 0$
$72 = - 4 y$
$y = - 18$

substituting the value of $y$ in equation $\left(2\right)$ to find $x$:

$x = 12 + y = 12 - 18 = - 6$

the solution for the system of equations are
