Solution: $x= -3, y=8$

$2x+y=2; (1), x-3y=-27 ; (2)$ . Multiplying equation (2) by

$2$ we get # 2x-6y=-54 ; (3),subtracting equation (3)

from equation (1) we get, $7y=56 :. y=56/7=8$ . Putting

$y=8$ in equation (1) we get, $2x+8=2 :. 2x= 2-8$ or

$2x= -6 :. x = -3$
