$x_1=0 and x_2=8$

$x^2=8x$
Add $8x$ to both sides:
$=>x^2-8x=8x-8x$
$=>x(x-8)=0$ (factrorization)
$=>x_1=0 and x_2=8$

$x^2$ simply means the value x mulitplies itself twice.

Therefore, $x^2$ is $x * x$

$(x * x)/x$ = $(8x)/x$

Hence, the value of x is 8.
