# How do you use factoring to solve this equation 3x^2/4=27?

Jun 8, 2015

$27 = 3 \cdot 9$

Thus :

cancel3(x²)/4=cancel3*9

(x²)/4=9

x²=9*4 ( we multiply by 4 on each side )

x²=36

Thus :

$x = \sqrt{36}$
=> $x = 6$

Or :
$x = - \sqrt{36}$
=> $x = - 6$
