# How do you write y^2 - 3y in factored form?

Apr 25, 2018

$= y \cdot \left(y - 3\right)$
${y}^{2} - 3 y$ You can factor out $y$ because both terms have it.
$= \left(y\right) \cdot \left(\frac{{y}^{2}}{y}\right) - \left(\frac{3 y}{y}\right)$
$= y \cdot \left(y - 3\right)$
