# How many organic molecules are there?

There are approximately nine million known organic compounds, thanks to carbon's great ability to form covalent bonds, up to $4$ at a single time! The most important organic molecules I can think of are glucose $\left({C}_{6} {H}_{12} {O}_{6}\right)$, $\text{ATP} \setminus \left({C}_{10} {H}_{16} {N}_{5} {O}_{13} {P}_{3}\right)$, any amine compounds $\left(- N {H}_{2}\right)$, and any of the four nitrogenous bases found in $\text{DNA}$.
