How many types of chemical bond are there?
There are 3 kinds of basic bonds, Ionic, Covalent and Metallic.
Ionic bonds are where two or more atoms of elements gain and lose electrons to form oppositely charged ions that are attracted to each other by electrostatic attraction
Metallic bonds are formed by all the atoms of the metal giving up electrons from their outer shell to form a lattice of positively charged ions surrounded by a sea of delocalised electrons that are free to carry charge and heat.
Covalent bonds are created by sharing electron pairs.
