# How to write squared or cube in socratic?

You can write the square root by using this syntax

hashtag sqrt(something) hashtag

The end result will be

$\sqrt{2}$

$\sqrt{\frac{1}{2}}$

$\sqrt{{x}^{2} + 2 x + 1}$

The cube root can be written using this syntax

hashtag root(n)(something) hashtag

n represents the root - in this case, n = 3.

You'll get

$\sqrt[3]{8}$

$\sqrt[3]{{x}^{3}}$

$\sqrt[3]{\frac{1}{x} ^ 9}$

and so on.

Of course, you can have n equal anything you want

$\sqrt[y]{2}$

$\sqrt[5]{5}$
