In the female, the development of the reproductive cycle is triggered by which two hormones?

There are many hormones involved, but I would say the main ones are as follows:
- FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone) - released by the pituitary gland (hypophysis) in the brain and stimulates the growth of a graaffian follicle in the ovary)
- Oestrogen and progesterone - maintains the endometrium of the placenta for implantation and development of the embryo.
- LH (Luitenizing hormone) - ensures that the embryo attaches to the thick endometrium of the placenta and is not passed through as a period as it does when fertilization does not occur.
