Bryophytes form one of the classes of the plant kingdom.
Mosses and liverworts are members of this class.
They are found in moist, shady and damp areas and grow in bogs and swamps, they require such an environment because they lack true roots and need to be able to absorb moisture easily from the atmosphere.
They reproduce vegitatively by tubers, fragmentation and gemmae.
