What happens during photorespiration and why is it considered bad for plants?

In presence of light carbondioxide is released.


  1. Photorespiration is found in higher plants. In prsence of light and scaecity of carbondioxide, the green plants absorb oxygen and carbondioxide released.
  2. In this process, the enzyme Rubisco oxygenates to RuBP.
  3. It wastes some energy produced by photosynthesis.
