THE major reason for most adverse environmental impacts in recent history is the continued increase in the human population.

Increasing human population places increasing demands on the entire ecosystem, including room to live, products to make life possible, and food to maintain life.

Deforestation is a result of both creating room for expanding populations to live, and as a way to generate products needed to provide a means of living for the local populace.
