Sorafenib tosylate belongs to a class of medications called kinase inhibitors.

Explanation:

It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. Thus helps stop the spread of cancer cells.

Sorafenib tosylate is approved to treat certain liver cancers that cannot be removed by surgery and advanced cancers of the kidneys. It is also used to treat thyroid cancer in certain patients with progressive, recurrent or metastatic disease that does not respond to treatment with radioactive iodine.
