Ether functionality is an oxygen atom that is connected to ether two alkyl or aryl groups (or one of each).


Polyethers contain more than one ether linkage, For example, crown ethers, which have the structure of a ring comprising several ether links. It is also possible to form polymers that are of higher molecular weight, such as PEG (polyethylene glycol) #H−(O−CH_2−CH_2)_n−OH#.
