The process by which DNA is amplified is called polymerase chain reaction (PCR) . There is PCR machine, which is also called a thermal cycler.

Explanation:

PCR machine allows the antiparallel strands of DNA to separate by heating. Along each separated stand a new complementary strand could be generated, catalysed by Taq polymerase present in the machine.

( Taq polymerase is a DNA polymerase naturally present in thermophilic bacterium, Thermus aquaticus . Thus the Taq polymerase can withstand heat necessary to denature the double helical structure of DNA within PCR machine, during several cycles of amplification.)
