Succinate dehydrogenase is present in inner mitochondrial membrane and also reported from bacteria. It takes part as a catalyst both in citric acid cycle and in electron transport chain.

In KREBS cycle, succinate to fumarate step is catalysed by succinate dehydrogenase.
The enzyme is also included in complex II of electron transport chain. Thus the enzyme links citric acid cycle with electron transport chain.
