What is the structure and function of ribosomes?
Ribosomes are like the construction workers of the cell. They read an mRNA sequence, translate it and use tools to build it into a protein. This protein is then used by the cell.
The Ribosomes are composed of rRNA and various proteins. They can exist as free floating organelles in the cytoplasm or they can be attached to specific structures like the ER (Endoplasmic Reticulum) in order to do specific jobs related to that structure.
