What would be worse for humanity, a global rise in temperature of 3 degrees or a global decrease of 3 degrees?
I'll go for a rise. I prefer to be warmer than freezing!
This is really an arbitrary and very subjective question. Who defines what a "worse" state for humanity is? What is the objective? Population mass, energy required for lifestyle, and standard of living are all subjective and often in conflict (as they are at any "temperature").
So, just pick whether you like it colder or warmer. Assuming that question as a "stable" point, the rest of life will work out the equilibrium in any case.
