When a light wave is refracted, what happens to the light wave?

It enters a medium of different optical density and changes speed and is bent to travel in a different direction.

If light passes from an optically less dense to an optically more dense medium (with a higher index of refraction) then the light slows down in speed and is refracted (bent) towards the normal (an imaginary line drawn perpendicular to the point of contact of the light).
