In 2014, China produced 9680 MtCO2, the US produced 5561, India 2597, Russia 1595, Japan 1232 MtCO2 (Global Carbon Atlas).

Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea round out the top ten producers of CO2 in 2014.

In 2011, countries making up the top contributors to CO2 emissions looked slightly different, with Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and the EU or European Union making the list.
