Why can't we edit our own comments?

Often times, I make a small mistake on a comment and without realizing it, I post it. I think it would make sense that since questions and answers can be edited, it's only reasonable that comments should be editable as well.

One word: simplicity.

Explanation:

I don't have the details here, but as it turns out, introducing a way for contributors to edit comments requires some serious infrastructure changes that are a little out of reach at the moment.

The funny thing is that the team actually considered making this change about #2# years ago when they had more resources allocated to the website, but they decided against it because of the complexity of the change and of the changes that would have to be made to the system.

Long story short, you cannot edit your comments because it was simpler this way.

My guess would be that this feature will be available at some point in the future, especially considering the fact that the community has grown significantly since this was last considered, but that it will most likely happen after the team grows to include more engineers.
