Why would it be difficult to replant trees in an area of tropical rainforest that has been cleared? What do you think would have to be done before this could be attempted?

The soil would no longer support plant life as it did prior to being cleared - soil remediation would need to occur

The soil of the rainforest is very thin, eroding quickly without groundcover. When this thin, nutrient poor layer is lost, the rainforest will not cover the region again until that soil is restored.
