How do I find the molar mass of an element?

The molar mass of an element is the amu or atomic mass unit from the periodic table.

For Carbon this would be 12.01 g/mole. Keep in mind that this value is actually the average atomic mass of all the carbon isotopes, so this accounts for a sample of carbon containing both Carbon-12 and Carbon-14 atoms.

Now one mole of carbon would contain #6.02 x 10^(23)# atoms.
If you created a pile of these atoms on a balance it. Would measure 12.01 g of Carbon or 12.01 g/mol.

This would hold true for every element, one mole of atoms would have a mass equal to the average atomic mass from the periodic table.
