Discriminant $\to b^{2} - 4 a c$ $->b^2-4ac$

$a = 1$ $a=1$
$b = 2$ $b=2$
$c = 8$ $c=8$

$b^{2} - 4 a c \to {(2)}^{2} - 4 (1) (8)$ $b^2-4ac->(2)^2-4(1)(8)$

$4 - 32 = - 28$ $4-32=-28$
