In order to factor by grouping it is important to group the pairs in a way that when factored the variables will match.

4jk - 8j^2 + 5k - 10j

(4jk - 8j^2) + (5k - 10j) Factor out a common factor from each group.

4j(k - 2j) + 5(k - 2j)

Now that you have a common factor you can pair the factors outside of the parenthesis.

(4j + 5)(k - 2j)
