Rewrite the equation to #y=mx+b#

This is relatively easy, just subtract #x# on both sides

#x+y=-2->y=-x-2->y=(-1)x-2#
Now the slope is obiously #-1# and the #y#-intercept is #-2#

You can start by rearranging your equation as:
#y=ax+b#
where:
#a# is the slope
#b# is the intercept.

in your case:

#y=-x-2#
Where:
slope=#-1#
intercept=#-2# on the #y# axis.

Your slope tells you that every time #x# increases of #1# unit #y# decreases of #1# unit .
