How do you solve this linear inequality #x-y>4#?

I'm uncertain what format you want your "solution" in.

You could re-write the inequality #x-y > 4# as
#y < x-4#

Maybe drawing a graph would be one way of expressing the solution.
To do this

  1. Draw the line for the equation #y = x-4# (to do this draw a straight line through the intercept points #(0,-4)# and #(4,0)#
  2. Shade the area below and to the left of your line as the solution area (since y values below this line are less than corresponding values on the line).
