The degree of a monomial is how many variables are in it. In #9xy^3z^6#, there are actually 10. This is actually:

#9 timesxtimesytimesytimesytimesztimesztimesztimesztimesztimesz#

So, there are 10 variables, even though some are repeated.

[Second Problem]

I'm not sure what to do with this one. It's just an expression. I can't simplify it. I may be able to factor it. Can you let me know in the comments what to do with this? Without it, this is just a degree 4 polynomial.
