If 14x^2+29x-1514x2+29x15
=(ax+b)(cx-d) color(white)("XXXXX")=(ax+b)(cxd)XXXXXwe know there needs to be a 'minus' on the dd because of the 'minus' on 1515

then we are looking for

  • factors a and caandc of 1414, and
  • factors b and dbandd of 1515
    such that bc-ad = 29bcad=29

Fortunately there are not a lot of factor pairs for 14 and 1514and15
so we can quickly come up with
(2x+5)(7x-3)(2x+5)(7x3)
