The Golgi apparatus is a subunit of a cell (organelle) found in both plants and animals. The Golgi apparatus functions by packaging up proteins into membrane bound vesicles and sending them for use in either the cell or outside of it. In this way it functions as the cell's packaging and shipping store for all its protein shipping needs.
