They have different number of elements in them.

Explanation:

Elements are made up of only one type of atom, such as gallium, #Ga#, or silicon, #Si#.

Molecules are made up of more than one element, such as trinitrotoluene, or TNT. It is composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. It has the chemical formula #C_7H_5N_3O_6#.

Molecules also have a more complex structure than elements, due to the fact that they contain different numbers of elements.
