I don't know what you mean by floor stripper. Do you mean paint stripper?

Explanation:

Paint stripper is (mostly) methylene chloride, #CH_2Cl_2#, a very powerful solvent that is immiscible with water. If you use this and get some of it on the webbing between your fingers it will hurt like blazes. Commercial mixes will have a few solvents added (toluene, acetone, propanol); possibly the only way to separate them is by fractional distillation.
