neutralisation
Explanation:
When an acid and a base are placed together, they react to neutralize the acid and base properties, producing a salt (neutralisation). The H(+) in the acid combines with the OH(-) in the base to form water (colourless). The compound formed by the cation of the base and the anion of the acid is called a salt.
Example
Hydrochloric acid + Sodium hydroxide → Sodium chloride + water
Sodium chloride is salt.
General formula
acid+alkali→salt+water
