To study far away objects in universe we have to observe radiation emitted by stars, galaxies, quasars, in different wave lengths.

Explanation:

Earth's atmosphere is blocking most of the radiation so we have to put observatories in space.with telescopes of different kind.
Earth based telescopes are useful for visible light and radio waves some infrared..So Gama-ray , X ray, infra red, U&V type telescopes are being used.in space and data send to earth.
In addition we have neutrino detectors and gravity wave detectors in use to study the universe.
some probes are send to other planets, comets and asteroids and sample collected to analyse them. to know more about them.
