The side length of the smaller tile is 2 cm

Let the length of 1 of the 600 tiles be #L_t#

Then Length of counter be #L_c#

S0# " "L_c = 600L_t#

But we are told the length of 1 of the 400 tiles is #L_t+1 cm#

So we have:

#400(L_t+1)=L_c=600L_t#

#400L_t+400=600L_t#

#=>L_t(600-400)=400#

#=>L_t=400/200 = 2 cm#
