It's a wonderful question that, in my opinion, hasn't only a scientific answer. The second law of thermodynamics has not exceptions. It is impossible that from chaos can be born the order, it is impossible a spontaneus generation (Pasteur). Or not? Entropy has also a statistic formulation (S= K ln W). It's sufficient without give a philosophical or teological explanation?I hope to read other answers

I am sorry: unfortunately nobody gave another explanation. I can add that if you let fall water or many little balls from 1 foot of height, some drops or little balls can have a bigger energy than the energy they had before but, in the whole, an energy decrease always happens. So, the cold cup of coffee will become hot again only if, at the same time, all the molecules gain energy from surroundings, which is rather impossible, but not statistically excludable. It is what happened in the beginning of life and during evolution. Or not?
